Rahul Gandhi, a Congress lawmaker and the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, claimed on Tuesday that business mogul Mukesh Ambani paid out “thousands of crore” on his son’s wedding, which was money that belonged to the Indian people.
Gandhi also said that the BJP was undermining the Constitution and serving a small number of national billionaires.
The Raebareli MP made the following statement at an election rally in Sonipat, Haryana: “Do you know that Ambani ji wasted hundreds of crore rs on his son’s marriage? Whose wealth is it anyway? You own the money.”
“There is no cash in your bank savings if you want your kids to get married. In order to finance your children’s wedding, you must obtain a bank loan.”
“Under the system that Narendra Modi created, 25 individuals in India may spend millions of crores of rupees on their weddings, while a farmer can only plan a wedding by going bankrupt.”
“If that is not a direct assault on the Indian Constitution, then what is?” Gandhi continued.
The Congress MP went on to say in his statement that a farmer may only plan a family wedding after taking out a loan.
“Reality is that wealth is going into the wallets of these 25 individuals while it has been taken out of your purse,” he stated.
In July of this year, Anant Ambani, the youngest son of billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, the daughter of businesswoman Viren Merchant, tied the knot in a lavish wedding at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre.
Several Bollywood stars and political figures graced the lavish and glamorous wedding, which was an event of great splendor.
