Four terrorists were slain, two troops were martyred and twenty personnels were injured during Rawalakot operation, Azad Kashmir, on Wednesday.
According to media reports, law enforcement forces carried out an operation in the Hussain Kot area of Rawalakot district, Azad Kashmir.
Police said that four terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire. The terrorists’ gunfire and hand grenade attack killed two police officers and injured 20 more.
SSP Rawalakot Riaz Mughal revealed at a media conference that all four terrorists slain were sought for murder. During the operation, two police officers were martyred and 20 others injured.
Speaking during a late-night press conference, SSP Mughal stated, “Based on actionable information, a police team, including myself, surrounded the accused in the forest area to apprehend them.” During the operation, one of the terrorists detonated a hand grenade, injuring an accomplice and a police officer.
According to the SSP, the terrorists sought refuge in a cave in the Hussain Kot jungle. There was intelligence that the suspects were plotting terrorist attacks in Azad Kashmir.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for their effective counterterrorism operation. In a statement, he paid tribute to the martyred police officers, stating that their sacrifice had helped prevent a major disaster.
“The martyred officers have set an example by sacrificing their lives in the line of duty,” Naqvi said. He continued: “The entire nation salutes their courage and stands with the bereaved families in this difficult time.”
It is pertinent to note that Global Terrorism Index 2025 ranks Pakistan second in the world, with a 45% rise in terrorist attacks over the previous year, resulting in 1,081 fatalities.
