After weeks of scorching temperatures, weather conditions across several regions of Pakistan are poised to shift with the arrival of a fresh weather pattern expected to bring cooling rains and dust-laden winds.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced that a pre-monsoon system is likely to affect southeastern Sindh beginning Saturday evening, offering much-needed respite from the extreme heat.

Districts such as Tharparkar and Umerkot are forecast to receive scattered showers coupled with strong gusts and thundercloud activity.

By Sunday, weather disturbances are anticipated to expand across a broader region. Areas including Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Badin, Mithi, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas, Thatta, Hyderabad, and the metropolis of Karachi may witness bouts of rainfall and windstorms.

Meanwhile, the northern regions are bracing for a separate meteorological development. The Met Office has indicated that moisture-laden winds are beginning to sweep into northern Pakistan, with a westerly disturbance likely to enter the region on June 13.

Between June 13 and 16, isolated thunderstorms, dust storms, and even hail are likely in parts of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the hilly regions of Murree and Galliyat, along with various districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rain is also forecast during this period in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and other parts of central and upper Punjab. Southwestern areas such as Barkhan, Musakhel, and Zhob in Balochistan are also expected to receive precipitation.

Additionally, southern Punjab may experience thunderous rain and dust storms across all districts through mid-June, further contributing to a country-wide shift in weather patterns.
