The Meteorological Department has advised that the majority of the plains in the country will continue to be under the grip of an intense heat wave for the next four days from today until May 24.
The department has warned that daytime temperatures in Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan will go up 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.
In the meantime, Central and Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan can expect temperatures to rise 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above average during this time.
The maximum temperature was observed in Dadu and Jacobabad yesterday at a sizzling 48 degrees Celsius. The rest were Larkana, Rohri, and Sibi at 46 degrees Celsius, Peshawar at 43, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Muzaffarabad at 41, Islamabad at 39, Quetta at 36, Karachi at 35, and Gilgit at 34 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists anticipate extremely hot and arid weather in Islamabad and its surroundings, as well as in most districts of Punjab and Sindh. Likewise, Balochistan will have hot and dry weather all over the province, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also have largely hot and dry weather.
However, meteorologists predict light rain in certain northern areas. People can expect light showers after midday in Abbottabad, Kohistan, and the surrounding areas. People can also expect light rain in the evening in Murree, Galiyat, and the surrounding areas.
