Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserted on Saturday that certain members within his party were in communication with influential entities, commonly referred to as the “establishment.”
During an informal exchange with journalists at Adiala Jail during the hearing of the Toshakhana reference, the former prime minister disclosed, “These individuals aim to dismantle the PTI, and they are the same individuals making accusations against Bushra Bibi.”
Imran Khan further addressed the restructuring of party committees, stating that while these committees manage routine political affairs, the core committee retains ultimate decision-making authority.
Amidst escalating internal tensions within PTI, with members divided on various party-related issues, Imran Khan revealed that “some of our associates are in contact with our adversaries, who seek to disband” the former ruling party.
Speaking to journalists inside Adiala Jail, Imran Khan pointed out the presence of “black sheep” within the party ranks, who have been accusing his wife, Bushra Bibi, of being an American agent.
In what seemed like a gesture of reconciliation towards his opponents, Khan remarked, “If I could meet former Chief of Army Staff, General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa twice after he ousted my government, then I can meet anyone.”
He emphasized that the situation was not only personal but also concerned Pakistan’s interests. Criticizing General (retired) Bajwa, Imran Khan accused the former COAS of betrayal.
