PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Sher Fazl Marwat has demanded authorities take notice of Pervez Khattak’s recent statement whereby “he had claimed that ECP had offered him bat electoral symbol but he denied the offer.”
Marwat, speaking to the media outside the Peshawar High Court, asserted that only the Election Commission can assign party symbols and questioned Khattak’s motive for proposing an alternative emblem.
“Why was there a need to offer the bat symbol?” Marwat asked, highlighting that Khattak had already formed his own party separate from PTI. “Pervez Khattak’s statement exposes the collusion between him and the Election Commission,” he further claimed, emphasizing that the cricket bat has been and will remain PTI’s sole symbol.
Marwat also addressed his own political future, revealing that PTI founder Imran Khan had nominated him to contest the NA-32 Peshawar election in the last party meeting. “I am ready to contest from NA-32 if the party decides,” he declared, but added that he is not opposed to other arrangements. “I am not stubborn and will accept whatever decision the party takes,” he assured.
