Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced Punjab schools summer vacation 2025, which read that the province’s schools would start their summer vacations on May 28.
Earlier Punjab authorities announced that the summer break will commence on June 1 and continue until August 9, 2025. It was noted that the schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.
Now amid the new date announced the School Education Department has completed all necessary preparations to ensure a smooth transition into the vacation period. They are also advised to prepare their study plans for summer holidays as in most of the educational institutions first term exams are held after summer vacations.
The announcement of summer holidays came amid growing concerns over the effects of climate change, particularly extreme heatwaves and their impact on education, health, and the economy.
In parallel, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released safety guidelines for schools to follow before the holidays begin. These include:
-
Ensuring proper ventilation in classrooms avoiding suffocation
-
Checking and maintaining fans and other cooling systems in educational institutions
-
Setting up accessible first aid counters to provide first-aid in any emergency
-
Training school staff to manage heat-related health issues
- Summer school timings issued by Punjab education department must follow
Government has adopted proactive approach in protecting students and educators during increasingly harsh weather conditions and ensuring that schools are equipped to handle potential emergencies effectively.
