In a historic step towards judicial digitisation and institutional reform, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has finally introduced an E-Filing System for all its registries, including the Principal Seat in Islamabad and branch registries in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta.
Based on an official press release, the system allows for the electronic filing of petitions, memos, judgments, and orders.
These papers will now be available online via the Supreme Court’s Case Management System (CMS) and will also be delivered to concerned parties through automated email notices, substantially eliminating paper work, time, and cost of litigation.
The Supreme Court has made it compulsory for all Advocates-on-Record (AORs) and Advocates Supreme Court (ASCs) to register themselves with the CMS.
For ease of this process, the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) have been asked to submit registered lawyers updated mobile numbers and email addresses.
Moreover, government institutions and ministries have been directed to nominate persons with proper contact details as focal persons to coordinate matters of e-filing. Among these are the Attorney General of Pakistan, Secretary Cabinet Division, Advocates General, Prosecutors General, and Chief Secretaries of all provinces.
For technical support, the Supreme Court has also nominated Malik Sohail Ahmad, Senior Deputy Director (Software), as the contact person.
The helpline for e-filing assistance can be contacted at 0307-5555645 or 051-9219255, and all the information must be forwarded to ecourt@scp.gov.pk.
This project, initiated under the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Justice, is a major step towards a more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric justice system.
It seeks to simplify court procedures, provide timely communication, and encourage greater access to justice in the country.
