The provisional timetable for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has emerged, with India hosting the prestige event beginning from September 30 in Bengaluru, cricket sources revealed on Sunday.
As per the reported schedule, India will host Sri Lanka in the first match of the competition. Due to diplomatic sensitivities, organizers have scheduled Pakistan’s matches at neutral venues, with Colombo confirmed as their tournament base.
They have scheduled the most anticipated match, Pakistan vs. India, for October 5 in Colombo.
The Pakistan women’s side will kickstart on October 2 against Bangladesh.
They have scheduled Pakistan’s second game, a high-tension encounter against arch-rivals India, for three days later. Australia will face New Zealand on October 1, while Pakistan’s clash with the Australian team is set for October 8.
Pakistan’s group stage matches include action against England on October 15, New Zealand on October 18, South Africa on October 21, and Sri Lanka on October 24.
As per the provisional schedule, organizers will likely hold the first semi-final at either Guwahati or Colombo, while they will play the second semi-final in Bengaluru.
They will host the final of the tournament on November 2, either in Bengaluru or Colombo, depending on the situation and logistics.
The ICC has not yet formally released the schedule, but the reported dates have already caused considerable buzz among fans, especially regarding the likelihood of a Pakistan-India clash on neutral ground.
Earlier, former Pakistan women’s cricket captain Sana Mir has made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman cricketer to be inducted into the International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame.
The historic move was announced on Monday when current inductees were officially announced during a ceremony ahead of the World Test Championship final.
