The release of Pakistan’s blockbuster film “The Legend of Maula Jatt” has been postponed in Indian cinemas.
According to Indian media reports, the film starring superstars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan was set to premiere today in theaters across Indian Punjab, but its release has now been postponed.
Nadeem Mandviwala, the film’s distributor in India and a Pakistani film producer, confirmed the postponement, stating that the film has been stopped due to a court injunction.
Nadeem Mandviwala said, “Unfortunately, the film’s release has been halted once again, and nothing can be done until the court makes its decision.”
Hindu extremists had previously threatened to prevent the release of “The Legend of Maula Jatt” in India.
Raj Thackeray, head of the Hindu extremist group Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, threatened theater owners in Maharashtra, stating that the film would not be allowed to release in the state under any circumstances.
For context, the film “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” a remake of the classic 1979 film, was released in 2022 and achieved record-breaking success worldwide.
