Controversial TikToker Kashif Zameer was arrested again by the crime control department (CCD) in Iqbal Town area of Lahore, police confirmed on Wednesday.
Authorities state that Zameer was arrested after videos on social media emerged of his personal armed guards waving guns about in the street. The response effort of the CCD was swift and the crackdown saw arrests of not only the social media personality, but 13 of his heavily armed guards.
At the CCD police station, a case has been filed against Kashif Zameer and his security members on several legal provisions, including illegal carrying of weapons and risking the lives of the people.
The police sources indicated that a bunch of armaments was obtained by the guards during arrest. Law enforcers are currently examining the legality of the guns and deployment of the guards.
Kashif Zameer, a man who is regarded to have an extravagant lifestyle and to cause a stir on social media platforms has in several occasions received publicity in the past due to his participation in a number of legal suits, such as fraud and impersonation.
In April too, the Lahore police had registered the cases against the TikToker and a police constable who mocked the police uniform on the social media. Both the TikTiker and the constable were arrested.
The FIRs contained grave offenses in the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and other legislations. It was mentioned in the report that Zameer had made fun of police uniform publicly during a wedding ceremony by handing over a tray with cash filling inside it to the police officer, throwing money on him and embarrassing him in public in violation of dignity and honour of the police department.
