Ceasefire between Iran and Israel: U.S. President Donald Trump declared that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Israel and Iran, potentially marking the end of the recent 12-day conflict.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! A full and complete CEASEFIRE has been agreed upon by both Israel and Iran, to begin in approximately six hours after the completion of current operations. The ceasefire will last for 12 hours, after which the war will officially be over!”
Trump elaborated further, stating that Iran would initiate the ceasefire, and Israel would follow 12 hours later, officially concluding the hostilities after 24 hours. He added that both sides are expected to maintain mutual respect and peace during the ceasefire window.
“Assuming all goes as planned—and it will—congratulations are in order for both nations for showing courage, endurance, and wisdom in ending what I now call ‘The 12-Day War’. This is really a great day for the world,” Trump wrote.
Trump hailed the outcome as a major diplomatic success, claiming it prevented what could have become a long, devastating conflict in the Middle East.
While one senior Iranian official reportedly confirmed Tehran’s agreement to the U.S.-brokered ceasefire—with Qatar playing a central role in mediating the truce—other voices from Iran have publicly denied receiving any formal proposal.
An Iranian spokesperson said, “We have not been presented with any official ceasefire plan. Iran will continue its defense until a fair and lasting peace is achieved.”
He went on to suggest that any announcements to the contrary could be deliberate misinformation aimed at legitimizing further strikes against Iran.
Despite these denials, diplomatic insiders insist Qatar remains engaged in back-channel diplomacy, working to ease the rising tensions.
Earlier, Trump had addressed Iran’s missile strike on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, minimizing its severity. He said that no American personnel were injured, and that Iran had issued prior warning, allowing for evacuation and damage control.
“I’m pleased to report no casualties and minimal damage. Iran, thankfully, gave us early notice, which ensured no lives were lost. I urge both Iran and Israel to now embrace peace.”
The Al Udeid base, which is the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East, hosts American, Qatari, and allied forces.
As ceasefire talks progress and conflicting narratives emerge, the Middle East remains on edge, with both the U.S. and Iran’s next moves under intense global scrutiny.
