U.S. President Donald Trump has been formally nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in facilitating the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, according to international media reports.
In a letter submitted to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, U.S. Representative Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) recommended President Trump for the honor, recognizing his “extraordinary and historic efforts in brokering peace between two long-standing adversaries.” Carter wrote that Trump helped prevent the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from acquiring the most dangerous weapon on Earth.
“President Trump’s influence was key in securing a quick agreement that many believed was impossible,” Carter stated, the Congressman has represented Georgia’s 1st District since 2015.
On Monday night, Trump called a cease-fire between Israel and Iran, referring to the war as the “12 Day War.” This declaration came just two days after Trump authorized unprecedented US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities to bolster Israeli military operations.
Notably, the Pakistani government had previously expressed support for Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination for 2026, praising his decisive diplomatic intervention during the recent Pakistan-India conflict.
According to the Pakistani government, Trump played a critical role in easing tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi, helping to avert the threat of war. His diplomatic outreach was described as crucial in preventing a potential nuclear standoff in South Asia.
Pakistan also acknowledged Trump’s interest in resolving the Kashmir dispute, calling his efforts a meaningful step toward regional peace and stability.
The government hailed Trump’s leadership as peace-oriented and globally significant, especially in the Middle East, referring to him as a “true mediator” in a time of heightened conflict.
