Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday stated that Turkey will remain Pakistan’s friend in good times and bad, as it has been in the past and will be in the future.
Writing on X, Erdogan stated that the fraternity between Türkiye and Pakistan, is shared by very few countries in the world and “is one of the best examples of true friendship”.
As Türkiye, we give high significance to the peace, calmness and stability of Pakistan, the president also added.
In addition, President Erdogan stated that he regards the wise, tolerant policy of the Pakistani state, “which gives priority to dialogue and compromise in problem-solving” highly.
The president was responding to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s X post, which the PM had made lauding Erdogan as a “dear brother” and welcoming Ankara’s iron-fisted support of Pakistan through thick and thin.
PM Shehbaz said that Erdogan’s wholehearted encouragement and unceasing solidarity with Pakistan deeply moved him, and he described Erdogan as his “beloved brother.”
“Pakistan is proud of its age-old, rock-like brotherhood with Turkiye,” Sharif averred, remarking that the two countries’ friendship only improves “with each new challenge.”
The premier also credited President Erdogan with mediation efforts in South Asia as “constructive” and “synchronized”.
Last week, tensions between India and Pakistan heightened again and culminated in a ceasefire following the execution of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos by Pakistan.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan had earlier met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar in order to present Turkiye’s robust solidarity with Pakistan following India’s unprovoked incursion into Pakistan’s sovereignty and loss of innocent lives.
The two counterparts engaged in discussing regional security issues at length and reiterated their resolve towards ensuring close coordination and cooperation.
