Amid a thorough and robust national security examination, the United States has stated that it will no longer be offering Pakistani students the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD).
The Global UGRAD program, which was in operation for 15 years and gave hundreds of Pakistani students the chance to travel to the United States, will be discontinued, USEF Pakistan revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
The State Department has communicated to terminate the program for Pakistan, USEF Pakistan emphasized.
We recognize that this information may be disheartening, particularly for individuals who applied this year and were anticipating this chance. Thousands of students have had life-altering experiences through the Global UGRAD Program over the years, which has promoted leadership development, cultural interchange, and academic advancement.
“We are immensely proud of the impact this program has had on its participants and the communities they have touched,’ said the statement issued by USEF Pakistan which comes as a major shock to the students in Pakistan,” stated USEF in an Instagram post.
In light of a national security assessment that has caused anxiety among thousands of students and even Green Card holders, it is important to note that the United States is revoked the visas of foreign nationals in large numbers.
The Global UGRAD program’s closure for Pakistan has crushed the dreams of talented students who wanted to study in the US to broaden their horizons and learn more.
