Ukraine agrees to ceasefire: Ukraine has expressed its willingness to accept a 30-day ceasefire deal with Russia proposed by the United States after discussions in Saudi Arabia.
A day earlier, during the negotiations in Saudi Arabia Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky put a stamp on ceasefire deal with Russia. “It is now up to the US to convince Russia on the proposed conditions to move forward towards ceasefire. Ukraine agrees to ceasefire”, Zelensky stated.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed this after negotiations with Ukraine administration. “We’ll present this agreement in front of Russian President. The ball is in their court.”
“Ukraine is prepared to lay down arms and engage in dialogue. If Russia refuses, then unfortunately, we will know who is obstructing peace,” he added.
The ceasefire negotiations between Ukranian President and US officials held in Jeddah.
After the discussion US state department spokesperson announced that US would immediately resume intelligence-sharing and security assistance to Ukraine.
It is pertinent to note that US has halted all the military assistance to Ukraine after the heated discussion between Zelensky and Trump in White House.
Now both parties are stranding alongside after table talks in Saudi Arabia.
Zelensky released a video message, expressing gratitude toward Trump for the ‘constructive’ discussions in Jeddah. He went on to say that Russia should also show leniency towards ceasefire deal.
Meanwhile, prominent Russian lawmaker Konstantin Kosachev announced that any ceasefire deal will work with our proposed condition not that of US.
Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and currently controls approximately 20% of Ukrainian territory.
