On Eid, an under-trial prisoner was reported dead in the Attock District Jail’s washroom under strange circumstances. Prison officials stated the inmate committed suicide by hanging himself with a drawstring.
Rashid Khan, a 37-year-old from Bhallar Joggi hamlet, was discovered hanging from the jail washroom window by his fellow inmates.
They promptly notified the jail authorities of his death.
Rashid was arrested by Hassanabdal police on January 1, following the filing of a first inquiry report under Section 354 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
His case was being heard in Hassanabdal’s local court. However, on Eid, his fellow convicts discovered his body hanging from the jail washroom window.
According to jail officials, the body has been taken to the district headquarters hospital in Attock for an autopsy. Afterwards, civil Judge Syed Naseer Abbas conducted a judicial inquiry in the jail, recording accounts from fellow convicts and jail personnel.
On the other hand, a teenage boy was slain and a guy was shot and injured in two separate mishaps in different portions of the Attock District on Wednesday.
In the first disaster, a 16-year-old kid from Chabb village named Ashsar Mansoor drowned while bathing in a water channel on Makhad Road in Jand.
A police spokesman stated that a Rescue 1122 team recovered his remains and delivered it for burial.
Separately, a man was shot and injured in Babarki hamlet, near the Hassanabdal police station, over a minor quarrel.
A complainant named Shahwaiz Ali Khan told the police that he was on his way when Hassan Khan reportedly opened fire on him with his Kalashnikov (AK-47). As a result, he was shot in the right leg, and the assailant fled with his gun. He was transported to a government-run hospital.
