In a touching love story that started on social media and later culminated into a real connection, a 47-year-old US woman previously named as Mendy has travelled all the way up to the rugged terrain of upper Dir in Pakistan just to marry a local youth whom she had converted to Islam.
The couple started their friendship online and shortly after it became the love according to the media reports.
A few days ago, Mendy arrived in Pakistan, where she accepted Islam and chose the name “Zulekha Zaib” for herself—a name she selected personally.
After committing and converting, she got married to Sajid Zaib, a man in an Upper Dir hillside region.
Both Zulekha and Sajid have gotten their marriage confirmed and they give the assurance that it was their mutual decision and that the wedding had been organized long before she came to Pakistan.
Zulekha Zaib, in an interview with the local media, said that she felt content and comforted in Pakistan, she had come to Pakistan out of her free will and, she was really happy here.
She also had served as a compliment about the hospitality of the Pakistanis and the people of the Dir which she termed as loving and respectful.
“and I have been loved and honoured beyond measure here!” with a smile she adds.
Her spouse, Sajid Zaib, was very excited to have his friend and currently his wife at his side.
He revealed; we were already planning to get married before she went to Pakistan.
Sajid’s father also gave his full support to the union, saying, “As a father, I’ve accepted my son’s choice. This marriage is okay with the entire family.”
