The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi filed appeals in the un-Islamic nikah case, and a district and sessions court in Islamabad reserved its decision on Thursday.
After considering the matter, Judge Shahrukh Arjumand adjourned the courtroom to his chamber without rendering a decision.
The judge will deliver the court’s verdict on May 29.
After hearing arguments from attorneys on both sides, the court reserved its decision.
Imran Khan is represented in court by Salman Akram Raja, while Usman Gul, the attorney for Bushra Bibi, and Adnan Ali, the prosecutor, were present when the decision was reserved.
The complainant’s assistant attorney stated that since the record does not belong to Bushra Bibi’s former husband, Khawar Maneka, Rizwan Abbasi, his attorney, must make an argument.
The Sessions Judge ordered Bushra Bibi’s attorney to provide the closing arguments.
Additionally, the judge requested that Abbasi use a video link to submit his points in court today.
Maneka’s argument for no confidence in the appeals against the conviction in the iddat case was denied by a municipal court in Islamabad last month. Maneka filed the motion, stating that she didn’t trust the judge and asking for the case to be moved to a different court.
