Punjab police arrested close to two dozen people after they raided a dance party organized inside a government high school within the Kassi locality of Kabirwala.
First-year student Sohail Bhatti reportedly arranged the party, which took place during school hours with a full sound system and live dance performances. The school faculty was fully aware of the unprecedented activity.
Local citizens, upset about the character of the event and the location, alerted the police. Cops raided the building and arrested two female dancers and 17 other participants. Police officials have confirmed they are initiating legal proceedings against all parties and have registered a full case.
The incident sparked fierce condemnation from parents, educators, and community leaders. People have raised questions about the grave slip in school administration, staff behavior, and the overall student oversight.
Authorities are currently investigating school officials who might have enabled or ignored the incident and will take action.
