Waqar Younis, a former Pakistani bowler, is set to assume a pivotal role inside the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Media sources state that Waqar Younis would take up cricket-related responsibilities from PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. With permission, Naqvi, who is free to delegate responsibilities as he pleases, intends to have Waqar oversee board cricket operations.
Waqar will be in charge of all cricket-related decisions, with Naqvi still supervising the PCB’s administrative operations. This covers issues pertaining to both local and international cricket, the selection panel, and player No Objection Certificates (NOCs). It is anticipated that these modifications will be officially announced soon.
Naqvi added that his time spent on PCB responsibilities is a source of worry for the interior ministry.
Furthermore, later this year, Naqvi is probably going to succeed Jay Shah as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is the current ACC president, having been elected to a one-year extension in January. The ACC presidency is rotated every six months.
After Shah’s two-year term ends, Naqvi is anticipated to take over as ACC president for the remaining two years.
The most recent ACC meeting covered this change, and the October–November meeting of the ACC is expected to see an official statement.
