On Wednesday, unidentified gunmen seriously injured a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and abducted a police constable after opening fire on a police vehicle in the Azam Warsak region of Lower South Waziristan.
Police sources said the attackers targeted the vehicle while it was traveling to the Toi Khulla subdivision through Samar Bagh on its way to Wana.
Rescuers rushed the injured officer, DSP Rakhmeen, to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
They are on a search mission to find the missing police official and has also tightened security in the region after the incidence.
All the entry and exit points are under the tight surveillance by the authorities to avert further violence.
In the meantime, there was the imposing of a curfew in multiple areas of the Lower South Waziristan earlier today.
According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner on July 3, authorities fully closed all routes leading into and out of Shakai, Tiarza, Sholam, Khamrang, and Tanai to movement.
