National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) released an advisory prior to the expected cloudy weather, scattered rain, and windstorms on Friday through Wednesday (June 13–16) in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, the Potohar plateau, and the upper parts of Punjab.
A weather advisory based on impact, from NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), has asked people to exercise caution and remain informed through the NDMA app, as severe heat is likely to impact the remaining parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, some regions of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), from Friday to Wednesday (13–18 June).
A poor western weather system is predicted to impact the north of the country from 13th to 16th June and could impact weather in several provinces.
Hot weather will continue in Punjab during the course of the week.
In KP, the weather will remain mainly hot, but several districts — including Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, Waziristan, and nearby areas — may experience isolated rain and gusty winds.
Furthermore, in Sindh and Balochistan, hot and dry weather will persist throughout the advisory period.
In Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), hot weather will be dominant, but regions like Astore, Skardu, Hunza, Shighar, Bagh, and Neelum Valley can experience isolated rain between 13th and 16th June.
NDMA, through NEOC, is keeping a close watch and maintaining inter-provincial and inter-district coordination to facilitate timely preparedness and response.
Tourists and visitors traveling to northern or mountainous areas should stay updated on local weather conditions and follow all safety advisories for their protection.
