Meta is adding a significant new functionality to WhatsApp, which will enable people to easily use multiple accounts when using the messaging platform.
The update seeks to remove the inconvenience of having individual personal and professional accounts.
WABetaInfo spotted the feature on the iOS beta version 25.19.10.74 and it will be implemented as an addition to an additional section in the settings of WhatsApp.
This portion will be like a central platform with all the available accounts with their profile photos and names and the user can quickly switch accounts with one tap.
When switching, it will bring up WhatsApp, loading in, at once, the corresponding chat history, settings, and preferences of that account.
The accounts will remain completely personalized, with each specific notification sounds, auto-download and backup signature.
The users will further have the ability to add new accounts without interference in data of the old ones. One will not have to log out or relaunch the application to change profiles. There will be a brief message showing confirmation of the switch.
Also, when a message is received in a secondary account, the format of the message will display the name of the sender and the account he/she sent it.
On pressing the notification, the correct account will be automatically opened, and the chat will come up.
This aspect is particularly practical when it comes to users having several phone numbers or eSIMs and actually do not want to use WhatsApp Business to handle different accounts.
The update is currently under development and will be available in a future release.
