The most recent international player to withdraw from the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has asked to be removed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He has stated that he needs to take a physical and mental vacation in order to prepare for the June ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Maxwell reportedly requested that someone else be selected by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru management to start in Maxwell’s stead for their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Maxwell’s decision was made following a string of lackluster outings for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where his 28-run innings against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were the only noteworthy run total.
Maxwell has had difficulty establishing himself in the IPL, despite coming into the competition off of strong performances for Australia, which included major contributions during their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup victory.
Injuries to important members of the Australian team competing in the IPL exacerbate the problem. While top-order batsman David Warner is recovering from a finger injury he suffered during a Delhi Capitals game, all-rounder Mitch Marsh has been suffering with a hamstring issue and has returned to Australia for rehabilitation.
Other foreign players have also withdrawn from the IPL in the interim. With personal reasons, England all-rounder David Willey has withdrawn from the event. Matt Henry, a fast bowler, has been selected by the Lucknow Super Giants to take his place. After a demanding season with the Australian side, leg-spinner Adam Zampa also made the decision to withdraw from the IPL for personal reasons.
The England cricketer Jason Roy, who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 Indian Premier League, has also withdrew from the team. Roy withdrew from the competition citing personal reasons, which KKR used to sign Phil Salt as a replacement.
