World Responds to US Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites
TwitterFacebook

Following US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, the international community reacted variably, with Israel commending President Trump’s decision, the UN advocating for de-escalation, and Iran along with several nations vehemently denouncing the attacks.

Pakistan condemns US strikes on Iran

Pakistan denounced the United States for attacking Iranian nuclear installations, claiming that the action violated international law and that it could cause more instability in the area.

The US attacks, which escalate fears of a wider regional escalation, come on the tenth day of the Israel-Iran war, which was triggered by Israel’s wave of strikes in Iran on June 13.

Islamabad urged all sides to abstain from further aggression and voiced serious concern over the escalating tensions.

“All international legal norms are broken by these attacks. According to the UN Charter, Iran has the right to self-defense,” the Pakistani Foreign Office said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the statement called the situation “deeply disturbing” and cautioned that the “unprecedented escalation of violence” might have repercussions that go well beyond the Middle East.

Iranian FM Abbas Araqchi:

By attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations, the United States, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has seriously violated international law, the UN Charter, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Also, Iran reserves all options to protect its people, interests, and sovereignty in accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions permitting a legitimate response in self-defense.”

Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel:

“President Trump, congratulations. History will be altered by your audacious choice to use the great and moral power of the United States to strike Iran’s nuclear installations. History will note that President Trump took action to prevent the most dangerous regime in the world from obtaining the most dangerous weapons in the world.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission:

“Iran must never get the bomb.”

“Stability must be the top priority as Middle East tensions reach a new high. International law must be respected.

“It is time for Iran to make a commitment to a legitimate diplomatic course. This crisis can only be resolved at the negotiating table.

Russia’s Security Council Deputy Chair Dmitry Medvedev:

“Trump has started a new war for the United States, despite having declared himself a peacemaker when he first took office.”

“Trump will not be receiving the Nobel Peace Prize with this kind of result.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer:

“International security is seriously threatened by Iran’s nuclear program. The United States has taken steps to counter the threat of Iran developing a nuclear weapon, which must never be allowed.

Nonetheless, Stability in the region is crucial, and the Middle East situation is still very unstable. In order to resolve this issue diplomatically, we implore Iran to go back to the negotiating table.

António Guterres, UN Secretary-General:

“This directly threatens global peace and security and represents a dangerous escalation in a region already on the verge of collapse.

Moreover, there is a growing chance that this conflict will get out of hand and have disastrous effects on the world, the region, and civilians.

United Arab Emirates FM, through the official news agency:

The continued regional tensions and the targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities have deeply alarmed the United Arab Emirates.

Also, it demanded that the escalation stop right away in order to avoid catastrophic consequences and a plunge into even more instability.

The Ministry called on the Security Council and the UN to assume accountability by actively resolving long-standing regional problems, which it claimed now represent a growing threat to regional and international security and stability.

On X, Qatari FM:

Also, the State of Qatar said it is deeply concerned about the situation and expressed regret for the deteriorating circumstances after the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities.

Shigeru Ishiba, prime minister of Japan, told reporters:

“A prompt de-escalation of the conflict is essential. We are keeping a careful eye on the situation and are quite concerned.”

Regarding state broadcaster Rai, Italian FM Antonia Tajani:

“After this attack, which seriously damaged nuclear weapons production and threatened the entire region, we now hope that de-escalation can start and Iran can go back to the negotiating table.”

FM in New Zealand Winston Peters:

“We recognize what has happened in the last 24 hours, including President Trump’s declaration that the United States will strike Iranian nuclear facilities.

It is extremely concerning that military operations in the Middle East are still ongoing. Preventing further escalation is crucial.
